Nature. Nurture. Nine.

In celebration of the new golf season, Kananaskis Country Golf Course hosted its inaugural Nature. Nurture. Nine. ladies’ event on Friday, May 10. And what a day of wellness, golf, and laughter it was!

It all kicked off with welcome smoothies, tea, coffee, swag bags, and time to mingle among fellow NNNers. KCGC truly hit a hole in one with this group of women – so many friendly faces happily introducing themselves without hesitation to become one cohesive and supportive team.

The welcome introduction by Bob Paley, KCGC’s Head Pro, and Tracy Paley, Reservation & Events Manager and NNN mastermind, embodied all aspects of this event – the passion for golf, the importance of inclusiveness, and the love for this course that has become home for so many that are now considered family. There was laughter, a few tears (not to name names, but Bob might have started it), and enough positivity to fill the room twice over. It was the perfect way to set the stage for an amazing day.

Next up was yoga where it was learned that you CAN fit 56 yoga mats into Hall C of the Robert Trent Jones Pavilion. After a good stretch and with clear minds, it was time to nourish the body with a delicious salad bar lunch and then sit back and enjoy a fashion show of the latest swing attire.

A handful of brave KCGC staff confidently strut the room, looking ready as ever to hit the greens. The surprise closer of the show was Assistant Golf Pro, Michael Nutt, who looked almost too comfortable in a pink floral dress. He also took a moment to show off his recent Tiger Woods tattoo and tell the story behind the body art that went viral (CBS sports covered it HERE).

Next on the itinerary was the most anticipated part of the event. If laughter is as good for the soul as they say it is, then everyone was in a great place after Lisa Longball’s golf clinic. The always-entertaining 8-time Canadian Long Drive Champion was the perfect mix of informative and fun – never missing an opportunity to add in a game changing tip or hilarious analogy. She stole the show with her experience and charisma, demonstrating not only how to execute the perfect drive, but also captivate an audience.

Then, it was time to grab the clubs and put all the newly learned tips and tricks to the test. The ladies split into groups and practiced driving, putting, and chipping with personalized help and direction from Lisa and the KCGC pro team.

With the first couple swings and start-of-season jitters out of the way, it was time to load into the carts and head out for a 9-hole shotgun on Mt. Kidd. Surrounded by mountains and with the sun peeking out now and again, there was no shortage of stunning views, good spirits, or comradery. In true KCGC spirit, every lady was encouraged and celebrated while out on the course, regardless of skill level.

The round of nine was followed with refreshing cocktails – a tradition worthy of incorporating into every day on the course! Then, it was time for more nourishment with a sit-down dinner including South West stuffed sweet potato and vegan dark chocolate cupcakes for dessert.

All eyes were on Lisa again as she took her place as keynote speaker. And just like the golf clinic, she brought the laughs and wisdom with her endlessly entertaining stories. The day then wrapped up with heartfelt closing remarks, and thus ended KCGC’s inaugural Nature. Nurture. Nine. It was the first event of its kind, but definitely not the last!

Kananaskis Country Golf Course’s first-ever Nature. Nurture. Nine. ladies’ wellness event took place on Friday, May 10, 2019. The second NNN event, added in by popular demand, happened on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
